Epidemiologic Considerations on Inducing Factors in Acute Urticaria

Abstract

|
Fifty patients of acute urticaria who visited emergency room of Hanyang University hospital for treatment of acute urticaria were investigated for probable/suspected inducing factors individually. Among them, food(meats, fish, fruits, ect.) was regarded the most common inducing facotr(38 cases); other factors were drugs(common cold drugs, etc.; 7 cases). Insect bites(3 cases) and unknown(2 cases) in order of frequency. Bacterial/viral infection(s) was suspected in a few patients, however we could not find any convincing laboratory evidences for those suspected infections. Perhaps, "patients´ recognition" on the precipitationg factors for the acute urticara can further be refined to define the causative agents and to prevent recurrences of the skin disease.
